Default audio settings (version 4.1.1 onwards)
By default we record with the built-in microphone.
If you use a bluetooth headphones, we’ll use the built-in microphone.
If you use a USB microphone, we’ll use the USB microphone for input and output.
If you connect bluetooth headphones after connecting your USB microphone, we’ll use USB for input and bluetooth for output.
Why do we disable the bluetooth microphone by default?
We do this because the audio quality of bluetooth of most bluetooth devices is significantly lower than the built-in microphone.
What happens when I'm recording with a remote guest?
The audio support works a little bit different when you connect with a remote guest, to enable the smoothest conversations when you record remotely.
When you connect with 2 devices in the same room, or invite a remote guest, we use the following priority for audio devices:
You can use the built-in microphone and speaker. Advanced audio processing will reduce any echo and feedback when you record remotely.
If you connect a bluetooth headset, we’ll use bluetooth for input and output.
We prioritize USB devices. If you connect a USB device, both input and output will be send to this device by default. You can connect headphones to your USB device for audio output.
Unfortunately, we can not use a USB device for input and bluetooth for output when you connect with a remote guest. This is due to limitations in the audio support on iOS and we hope to change this in the future.
Verifying your input
You can verify which microphone is used by looking at the microphone icon (left-side menu bar) on the recording screen (the canvas). The microphone icon on the canvas shows a standard microphone, microphone with USB icon, or a microphone with bluetooth icon.
Enable the Audio Meter in the Audio Settings of the app to show an audio meter at the bottom of your screen.
Tip: Tap or blow lightly on your microphone if you want to double check your input.
