How to record two angles at the same time in the same room in iOS
Updated over 6 months ago

With Detail iOS you can connect two iOS devices to record with two iPhone cameras into one project. This is great if you want to capture two angles for your solo podcast, an unboxing, cooking or creating demo, a live event, or a conversation between two people, and means you never have to send files from a camera into a project to sync and edit – this feature does that automatically.

Important to know

When using this connected feature, called Multiplayer, the recordings of either camera are first saved to that iOS device and then synced over wifi to the other device after the recording is done, so if you see the "Preview" label, this means that the recording from the other device has not yet been synced.

Here is how to connect and record two angles at the same time

Make sure bluetooth is turned on for both devices or you're connected to the same wifi connection.

Step 1.Start a new project

Open Detail iOS on both iOS devices and start a new project.

Step 2. Connect your devices

On both devices open the Multiplayer menu by tapping the (πŸ‘€+) in top right corner of the recording view. This will open a "Connection" menu slide up on both devices.

Step 3. Check your feeds

Give it a few seconds and Detail will connect the two cameras. To see the "other" camera's feed, you an either swap the sources around using the πŸ” icon on the recording view or by tapping Layout and chose the Picture in Picture layout.

Step 4. Set up your angles

You can record horizontally or vertically – and we recommend recording in the same rotation on both devices (so both horizontal or both vertical)

Step 5. Record

Tap record and to start recording – both camera angles will record into one project.

Step 6. Sync

When using this connected feature, called Multiplayer, the recordings of either camera are first saved to that iOS device and then synced over wifi to the other device after the recording is done, so if you see the "Preview" label, this means that the recording from the other device has not yet been synced. To sync, tap the (πŸ‘€+) an tap Start Sync.

Syncing can take time depending on how long your recording is.

Step 7. Edit

When syncing is done you can edit your multi-angle video using all the features available in the app.
